First to 11 Points

The objective of CapCap is simple: be the first player to score 11 points by tossing bottle caps into the glass, vase, or ice bucket on the table. But there's more to it than just hitting your target – strategy, precision, and a bit of luck all play a part!

Game Start

How to Start the Game:

Flip a Cap: Flip a bottle cap to determine who goes first.

Initial Setup: The defensive player arranges the glass, vase, and ice bucket in any order they choose on the table.

How to Play

  • Offense

The offensive player stands behind the line and says, ‘Ready.’ They have their 4 caps ready to toss towards the vessels, aiming to land inside.

  • Defense

The defensive player can rearrange the vessels in any order on the table before each round. Once the defensive player removes their hand from the last vessel, it's game time.

  • Turn Structure

The player gets a turn to throw all 4 of their caps before the next player goes. After the player has taken their turn, the vessels can be rearranged again by the defensive player.

Scoring

  • Small Glass = 5 Points

Points are awarded based on where the cap lands. The small glass cup is worth the most points at a value of 5.

  • Vase = 3 Points

Points are awarded based on where the cap lands. The vase is worth the mid-amount of points at a value of 3.

  • Ice Bucket = 1 Point

Points are awarded based on where the cap lands. The vase is worth the least amount of points at a value of 1.

Additional Details

Water Weight

All vessels are 1/3 filled with water to increase weight and reduce the chances of caps bouncing out.

Cap Collection

If a cap is left in a vessel and not collected by the next turn, the offensive player loses a turn.

No Extra Points

No extra points are awarded for a bounce shot. No extra points for catching the bounce of a cap off a vessel.

Special Rules

Face-Off

If the score is tied at 10-10, flip a cap to determine who goes first in face-off time. The first player to land a cap in any of the vessels wins the game.

Winning Streaks

If a player wins three games in a row, they earn a free beer but are banned from playing for the rest of the night. This rule is known as 'Cappy.'

Toss Foul

Players must keep both feet behind the designated line while throwing. Stepping over the line results in a forfeit of 1 cap toss.

Strategy

  • If a cap bounces off a vessel, the offensive player can attempt to catch it before it hits the ground for a bonus shot. If caught, the player gets one additional throw with that cap.

  • Players must not interfere with each other's throws. Any interference results in a penalty point awarded to the opposing player.

Pro Tips

  • Practice your aim and figure out the best angle for each vessel.

  • Keep an eye on the defensive player's setup – their arrangement could give you clues on how to best approach your throw.

How to Win

The game ends when a player reaches 11 points, or if they win in overtime. Remember, if you win three games in a row, you become the 'Cappy' and get a free beer, but you're also banned from playing for the rest of the night!
